Employers’ perspectives towards domestic workers in Kuwait

Improving the rights of domestic workers does not only translate to legislations, but as well as transforming the perceptions and attitudes towards domestic workers in the Middle East. Project 189 is committed on both ends of the solution, Ekaterina Porras Sivolobova, Project 189 founder, developed a study on the perceptions and attitudes of employers towards domestic workers. Some of the findings of the study bring about how the perceptions are deeply rooted in societal norms; hence, not questioned enough despite being beliefs and attitudes that normalize discrimination.

The report on the perceptions of employers towards domestic workers in Kuwait was carried out by the International Labour Organization’s Migration and Governance Network (MAGNET) project- an initiative supported by the Swiss Development Cooperation, and with contributions from Dr. Alanoud Al Sharek and Mr. Khalid Tebe and was supported by the World Justice Project.
