Project 189 is honored to have been invited by Peace Without Borders for their 8th anniversary celebrated on February 2017 in Manila Philippines where Project 189 had the opportunity to shared our ongoing efforts to build an inclusive community in Kuwait and promoting peace through understanding and cooperation.

ARFAJ
Arfaj is our empowering program in the Filipino Shelter in Kuwait to assist women to move forward through entrepreneurship, business and art projects and assisted by local volunteers. 

 


CIVIL SOCIETY WEEK 2016 – BOGOTA
Project 18 participated in the Civil Society Week 2016 held in Bogota, Colombia to engage in topics of empowerment, gender equality, advocacy, funding, activism, data and innovation.

STAND TRAININGS 2015 – 2016
STAND is a regional program developed by international NGO PartnersGlobal in partnership with en.v aimed to build the capacity of the local civil society sector through the provision of training, advocacy and networking opportunities. Training topics included Leadership Development, Strategic Planning, NGO Governance, Fundraising, Grant-Writing, Project Management, Monitoring and Evaluation, Financial Management and Human Resource Management to Coalition Building, Cooperative Advocacy and Conflict Management.

AMERICAN UNIVERSITY OF KUWAIT (AUK)
Organized by the Internationals Relation Club, Project 189 presented on ongoing projects, challenges and efforts to build an inclusive society and protect and promote the rights of domestic workers.

CONSULTATION WORKSHOP ON MDWs:
ADVOCACY AND EMPOWERMENT IN THE GULF REGION – BAHRAIN
On October 2016 Project 189 joined a consultation workshop held in Bahrain and organized by the General Federation of Bahrain Trade Unions (GFBTU) in co-operation with German institution Friedrich Ebert Stiftung and the International Domestic Workers Federation(IDWFED).

 


DOMESTIC WORKERS AND MIGRANTS RIGHTS – GUST
Organized by the Students Association at GUST University, Project 189 presented on the vision and mission of the organization as well as the projects, programs, challenges and hopes for the organization. 

 


FOR OUR SOCIETY: BRINGING YOU THE POWER OF FILM
For Our Society is a  human rights film festival to ignite positive discussion on prevailing human rights issues in Kuwait, the Middle East and the rest of the world. The film festival seeks to motivate awareness and to connect individuals to create a strong inclusive society, a society that cares and wants to see a better future for all, that is a community that comes together to work For all members of Our Society.

 


ACTION/2015
Together through a global campaign in 2015, to push forward the Sustainable Development Goals, Project 189 organized different events around key dates to promote awareness, involve youth and promote transparency

52 after the number of days that every domestic worker must have off, Project 189 organized a 2 day workshop and a gallery presenting photographic work by domestic workers to promote inclusiveness, change perceptions and promote their days off that their are entitled to. 

 

INNOVATIVE JUSTICE CHALLENGE – SHORTLISTED
Project 189 was shortlisted as one of the 46 most innovative solutions to bring justice to communities.

 


SARA
Social Accountability for Recruiting Agencies, was our first project where focus group discussions were organized to understand the perceptions of employers towards domestic workers as well as to understand what changes need to happen to sustainably create the right solutions. Part of this project also included the engagement with recruiting agencies to promote transparency and fair recruiting practices.
