Ai-Jen Poo recently was awarded with the MacArthur fellowship, which will allow her to continue improving domestic workers conditions through her foundation. In this article written by Joann Weiner for the Washington Post, Poo mentions what are some of the reasons to continue pursuing this cause as well as some obstacles to overcome. To mention a few, she comments on the perception that many societies have developed of not even considering domestic labor as a ‘real work’ consequently devaluing such and making it more difficult to have the deserved respect and to be protected by the law and policies just as any other type of work.
